LYNDA UNDER THE PINES

This really has been a week of summery farewells in the form of reflective pop songs that brood over the sun-fuelled events of the past few months and as the days shorten, what lies ahead. Our latest obsession is ‘Under The Pines’ from London pair Lynda who emphasise that “there’s no summer time,” backed a hearty modulated bass and spritely electronic keys. It’s a song painted in big brush strokes of nostalgic ‘80s pop that’s hinged on a relatively simple, but totally moreish melody. If this is your first time hearing about Lynda, the musical project of Algerian Youcef Khelil and Welshman Russ Harley, now based in the London borough of Lewisham, then be sure to retrace your steps to their hopeful debut ‘100 Degrees’. - HT
